Implementing the NIATx Model of Process Improvement

The Network for the Improvement of Addiction Treatment (NIATx) is a research and technical assistance network that has been used by over 3,000 agencies worldwide in a variety of addiction, mental health prevention and other social service sectors to improve operations and business practices. NIATx guides agencies through process improvement activities to increase access and retention in treatment. For more information on NIATx, visit niatx.net.
Specific to JCOIN, NIATx will be one of two implementation strategies being used in the study ‘Fostering MAT Use in Justice Populations’. The other implementation strategy will be ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes). The study will test different dosages of NIATx within criminal justice settings, specifically in jails and community-based treatment providers to increase the use of medications for addiction treatment (MAT) among individuals involved in the justice system with a substance use disorder.
