Results from the NORC’s AmeriSpeak Stigma Survey 3 on the General Public’s Views Towards Recovery and Treatment from Opioid Use Disorder (June 2020)

This presentation contains results from the MAARC’s third AmeriSpeak Brief Stigma Survey (JCOIN 026) done in June 2020. NORC conducted a third cross-sectional national survey of the U.S. adult population, using AmeriSpeak’s® web, probability-based panel. The third of the AmeriSpeak Omnibus Surveys continues NORC’s work measuring stigma and opioid use disorder (OUD) but adds questions related to community perceptions of opioid use disorder treatment and recovery. There were also a few COVID-related questions that were repeated from Survey 2 that were covered in this third survey.  The focus on the general public’s views on treatment and recovery came from input from MAARC reviewers and the JCOIN Survey Advisory Workgroup members. Survey 3 improves our understanding of patterns in stigma across multiple dimensions of OUD and informs future efforts including qualitative data collection and the custom AmeriSpeak survey scheduled in year two.
