NIDA Announces Four New Funding Opportunities for JCOIN Phase II

The National Institute on Drug Abuse released four Request For Applications (RFAs) for JCOIN Phase II Clinical Research Hubs and Support Centers aimed at improving outcomes for people with a substance use disorder (SUD) or who are at risk of overdose. These include:

  • Clinical Research Hubs (UM1, Clinical Trial Required): (RFA-DA-25-025): The JCOIN Phase II Clinical Research Hubs studies should aim to improve public health and public health outcomes
    for people with justice system involvement who have a substance use disorder (SUD) or are at risk of overdose. Research hubs will conduct clinical research and clinical trials. Each Clinical Research Hub must propose a multi-site clinical trial with at least three sites.
  • Innovation Hubs (R01, Clinical Trial Optional):(RFA-DA-25-062): Innovation Hubs will conduct a research project that tests novel models of treatment delivery or treatments in novel settings to
    improve public health and public safety outcomes for justice-involved individuals who have SUDs or are at risk of overdose.
  • Economic Research Resource Center (U24): (RFA-DA-25-061): The Economic Research Resource Center’s (ERRC) primary purpose is to conduct, support, and disseminate cost and economic analyses to inform decisions about service delivery for individuals involved in the criminal legal system who are at elevated risk of overdose.
  • Community Engaged Research Resource Center (U24):(RFA-DA-25-026): The Community Engaged Research Resource Center (CRRC) provides expertise and leadership in meaningfully and thoughtfully engaging individuals with a history of justice involvement in research.
