Linda Hurley, Health Agency Partner for JCOIN’s Brown University Clinical Research Center Receives Two National Awards Honoring Her Extraordinary Career in the SUD Treatment Field

Linda Hurley's photoLinda Hurley, BA, MA, CAGS, the president and CEO of CODAC Behavioral Healthcare, has been presented with national awards in recognition of her distinguished career from the American Association for the Treatment of Opioid Dependence (AATOD) and the National Council for Mental Wellbeing. Ms. Hurley was awarded the Nyswander-Dole Award, AATOD’s most prestigious award, recognizing those who have made noteworthy contributions in the opioid use disorder treatment field. The National Council for Mental Wellbeing also awarded Ms. Hurley with their Lifetime Achievement Award, honoring recipients for their relentless efforts to improve the outcomes of those impacted by mental health and substance use.

Ms. Hurley’s leadership at CODAC has led the non-profit to become a national leader in establishing new strategies to deliver medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD), including instituting a national model for providing MOUD in correctional settings and piloting the first medical mobile unit providing methadone under the revised DEA regulations.

Ms. Hurley serves as the Healthcare Agency Partner for JCOIN’s Clinical Research Center at Brown University (Hub). The JCOIN Brown University Hub focuses on expanding the use of MOUD across seven community supervision sites in Rhode Island, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania. Ms. Hurley aided the Brown University Hub in publishing important JCOIN publications, including Medication for Opioid Use Disorder Service Provision and Telephone Counseling: A Concurrent Mixed Methods Approach Examining Counselors’ Experiences and Post-incarceration Outcomes of a Comprehensive Statewide Correctional MOUD program: A retrospective cohort study.

Ms. Hurley received the National Council for Mental Wellbeing award at NatCon24 and was presented with the AATOD award at the 2024 AATOD Conference.
