MAT Course for County Executives: Understanding Overdose Risk and Medication Efficacy

County executives play a critical role in reducing overdose deaths and promoting evidence-based practices to treat people with substance use disorders (SUD) in their communities. This course provides an introduction to treatment and medications to treat opioid use disorder (OUD). Participants will also hear from patients about their experiences with treatment and how medications played a significant role in their recovery.
Improve knowledge about the effectiveness of medications and treatments for OUD.
Factors that contribute to the development of SUDs, types of treatment for OUD, and the three FDA-approved medications to treat OUD (methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone).
