Alaska Department of Health Course: Understanding Overdose Risk and Medication Efficacy
This course is designed for state and local leaders to better understand the treatment of substance use disorders, including FDA-approved medications to treat opioid use disorder and their effectiveness for people involved with the criminal justice system. Participants will also hear from patients about their experiences with treatment and how medications played a significant role in their recovery.
Improve knowledge about the effectiveness of medications and treatments for OUD.
Factors that contribute to the development of SUDs, types of treatment for OUD, and the three FDA-approved medications to treat OUD (methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone).
