A scoping review of factors that influence opioid overdose prevention for justice-involved populations

Summary

This systematic search examined published papers from 2010 to February 2020 that addressed the prevention of opioid overdoses among individuals involved with the criminal justice system. Through analysis, common themes emerged among the research as factors that influence opioid overdose prevention among this population. These themes include acceptability of naloxone, accessibility of naloxone, evaluations of overdose prevention interventions, coordination of efforts among corrections and community providers, and participant overdose risk.
